Donald W. Baldwin, 1932-2003, Sedalia

Donald Warren Baldwin, 71, of Sedalia, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Pettis County, a son of John B. and Zelphia Bishop Baldwin. On Aug. 7, 1957, in Clifton City, he was married to Elizabeth R. Vardeman, who died Feb. 17, 2002.

Mr. Baldwin was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591, American Legion Post 642, Granite Lodge No. 272 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Mason-Valley of Joplin, Sedalia Scottish Rite Club, Ararat Shrine and Sedalia Shrine Club. He was an Army veteran, retiring in 1979 after 30 years of service. He retired with the rank sergeant major. He then worked for Waterloo Industries, retiring in 1994.

Surviving are two daughters, Tammy Hartley, of Sedalia, and Lynn Naylor, of Warsaw; two sons, Dee Baldwin, of Aurora, Colo., and Tracy Baldwin, of Independence; a sister, Edith Blake, of Sedalia; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Edward Baldwin, Howard Baldwin and John Baldwin; and a sister, Juanita Schulte.

Memorial services and burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Talley officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591.
